Sayga Xen is an SF-based independent trap artist drawing on the old-school rap culture of Oakland and combining it with the energy of the hyphy scene. The result is something distinctly his own - a psychedelic listening experience that pedals back toward trip-hop roots.

My introduction to the hyphy scene came almost by accident — through a string of mastering jobs scattered across the Bay Area. What started as work-for-hire turned into something much more lasting: a connection with Michael Borrego, known on stage as Sayga Xen, that grew into years of fruitful collaboration.

That relationship opened doors to work with a wider circle of Bay Area talent, including Rich Iyala, Treal Will, Mr.Fab and others — each collaboration adding another layer to a body of work rooted in the sound and energy of the hyphy movement.
