Smallspace

Smallspace was a Grand Rapids, Michigan band whose atmospheric, electronic-leaning indie rock drew praise in a contemporary Aiding & Abetting review. The reviewer wrote that the group “hails” from Grand Rapids, comparing its prog-laptop sound to Air, Radiohead, and the Beta Band.

The band’s 11-track album 'No Matter'  released on the Speedywagon label, is still available to stream. Standout tracks include “Loose Ends,” “Right Here,” “For Days,” and “Don’t Go (The Cosmonaut).”

A NeuFutur review described the music as dreamy indie-pop with electronic elements and specifically noted “Jon’s vocals,” supporting the identification of Jon Faber as the band’s lead singer.

A surviving studio video of “Loose Ends,” uploaded to Vimeo by Michael Knorr, captures Smallspace recording at Dynamite Sound. The footage was provided by Al McAvoy and filmed by Jerry Duba.

For No Matter, I mixed and produced the album, where I also played overdubs on various instruments to achieve the final sound.
